Enabling mangrove ecosystem and aquaculture farmers to thrive

In the last decade, the total catches in fisheries have stagnated at 90 million tons. Meanwhile, aquaculture production has grown to nearly 115 million tons in 2018. Unfortunately, its extensive development has a side effect of unprecedented threat for our mangrove ecosystem. Our research collaboration with Blue Forests strives to find a sustainable approach to aquaculture through Farmers Field School (FFS). FFS facilitates farmers to identify the problem they face and how to address them using their own resources.

Thank you Biological Oceanography at Scripps Institution of Oceanography for having both Tay Juhana Foundation and Blue Forests sharing the findings. The slide can be downloaded on the left side of this page.
