Suboptimal Land

Days by days, we move closer to a crossroad of growing population and receding ability to produce agricultural commodities. While fertile land for food production is defined as optimal land, suboptimal land is the land that is less fertile but still can be used. At a glance, it seems to cannot be used for anything – be it too wet, too dry, too acidic. Recently, though, many studies have shed light on the opportunity (and challenge) to cultivate this type of land to be a productive one.
